ABOUT US

Hendersons Health & Safety Solutions is built on over two decades of leadership and management experience, led by Joseph Henderson‑Jones. Our consultancy is rooted in high‑level risk management, civil contingencies, testing and exercising, and both emergency and operational planning. Across roles including National Lead for Testing and Exercising, Head of Civil Contingencies and Major Events, and Operations Manager for Cardiff City centre, Joe developed the strategic planning and multi‑agency coordination mindset that now underpins how we support clients. In simple terms: we bring calm, structured grip to complex environments — and we translate that into practical, defensible health and safety arrangements that work in the real world.
Safe. Compliant. Operational — risk governance for complex, live environments.
At Hendersons Health & Safety Solutions, we provide comprehensive health and safety consultancy across occupational, construction and public‑facing environments. That includes structured inspections and audits, accident and near‑miss investigations, and practical management information tools that help leadership teams see risk trends, prioritise actions and evidence improvement.
In critical infrastructure and other high‑risk industrial settings, our focus is assurance, governance and control of changing risk. We support clients with inspection regimes, contractor and RAMS quality assurance, incident learning, and clear reporting that helps managers maintain grip on live operations and demonstrate defensible decision‑making.
In construction and complex build environments, we support the practical delivery side of compliance — including CDM‑aligned support, multi‑phase project oversight, and the written work that sits underneath safe delivery (CPP, RAMS, risk assessments, policies and site inspection reporting). This is the lane where documentation must reflect how work is actually being done, and where our role is to keep it proportionate, usable and credible under scrutiny.
We also support events, festivals and crowded spaces, including organisations preparing for or operating within the scope of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (“Martyn’s Law”). Here, our work is about public protection readiness: understanding whether a venue or event is in scope, applying a terrorism‑specific lens proportionately, and building practical plans, procedures and staff readiness that can actually be delivered under pressure.

Construction Health & Safety
We support construction clients operating in live, regulated and higher‑risk environments, with a focus on keeping projects safe, compliant and moving.
Our work includes site inspections and assurance, CDM‑aligned support, RAMS and CPP quality review, contractor oversight and incident learning.
We have experience across multi‑phase projects, refurbishment and retrofit works, and complex interfaces where poor coordination or weak documentation quickly translate into real risk.
Our approach is practical and proportionate — ensuring health and safety arrangements reflect how work is actually delivered on site and stand up to scrutiny if challenged.
Events, Festivals & Crowded Spaces
Hendersons provides specialist health and safety and public safety consultancy for events, festivals and other crowded, publicly accessible environments. This work is distinct from occupational and construction health & safety and focuses on managing risk in live, public‑facing settings where crowd behaviour, temporary infrastructure, environmental conditions and external stakeholders all influence safety outcomes.
Our experience includes supporting organisers and venue operators with event safety planning, crowd risk considerations, and proportionate control measures that reflect how events actually operate on the ground. We understand the practical realities of temporary sites, peak‑time pressures and shared responsibility across multiple parties.
Where applicable, we support organisations in understanding and preparing for their responsibilities under the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (Martyn’s Law). This includes helping duty holders apply a terrorism‑specific lens proportionately, without defaulting to unrealistic or undeliverable measures.
Comprehensive Consultancy Services
Hendersons provides end‑to‑end occupational health and safety consultancy, supporting organisations that need clear, proportionate and well‑governed arrangements rather than off‑the‑shelf compliance.
Our work includes structured inspections and audits, accident and near‑miss investigation, and the development and review of policies and risk assessments that reflect how organisations actually operate. Where appropriate, we also support leadership teams with clear, usable management information to inform decision‑making.
We work with organisations of different sizes, from sole traders to larger corporate and public‑sector bodies, tailoring our support to the scale, risk profile and maturity of the business rather than applying a one‑size‑fits‑all approach.
Advanced Risk Management
Risk management underpins everything we do. Our approach goes beyond compliance and static risk registers, focusing instead on how risks interact, evolve and materialise in real operating environments. We recognise that serious failures are often the result of multiple smaller issues combining over time, rather than a single obvious hazard being missed.
We work with clients to understand risk in context, taking account of people, behaviour, systems, environment and operational pressure. From that, we help design controls that are proportionate, achievable and effective in practice, rather than theoretical or overly burdensome. This ensures risk arrangements reflect how work is actually done, not how it looks on paper.
A key part of this work is supporting defensible decision‑making. We help organisations clearly articulate why particular controls are in place, how risk has been assessed and balanced, and how decisions are reviewed as conditions change. The emphasis is always on maintaining grip on risk, adapting to change and supporting continuous improvement, not creating paperwork for its own sake.
Audit, Reporting & Professional Assurance
Clear, well‑reasoned written work is central to effective health and safety governance. We place strong emphasis on the quality, structure and clarity of reports, audits and formal documentation, ensuring that outputs are accurate, proportionate and capable of standing up to scrutiny.
Our auditing and reporting work focuses on identifying material risk, highlighting priority actions and explaining findings in plain, professional language. This gives clients confidence that issues are properly understood, evidence‑based and recorded in a way that supports informed decision‑making rather than defensive paperwork.
Whether reports are used internally, shared with regulators, insurers or clients, or relied upon after an incident, our approach ensures they provide clear assurance of competence, reasoning and oversight — not just compliance with format or process.
Management Information & Data‑Led Insight
We use management information to turn health and safety activity into meaningful insight. Rather than relying on isolated inspections or retrospective reports, we focus on capturing consistent, structured data that shows patterns, trends and emerging issues over time.
This allows leadership teams to see where risk is increasing, where controls are effective, and where attention is genuinely required. The emphasis is on clarity and relevance — providing information that supports prioritisation, resourcing and informed decision‑making, not dashboards for their own sake.
By linking observations on the ground to clear management insight, we help organisations move from reactive compliance to proactive control. The result is better visibility of risk, stronger governance and a more confident basis for continuous improvement.
